The stats are to HELP people. For crying out loud, Kootenay, if we didn't have Canadian MLS systems, not to mention the Torrens Land Registration System, in Canada, we'd be FAR worse off.

No more true than with data transparency in the US. As much as I like to find out what all houses around me have sold for, I'm having a hard time finding much to give me a competitive advantage on what price I offer. But maybe I'm one of the unfortunates who offers what a property is worth, not what others think it's worth. Maybe it's time to send me off to pasture.

The Torrens Registry System was actually created from Marine Shipping Companies who got bearish on their vessels seaworthiness in Australia.....
