What kind of commission should I expect to pay a Realtor for for approaching and making an offer on a private property not listed.

Normally commissions are paid by the seller NOT the buyer. The realtor here, PV's buyers agent, as thinktom said, will try to negotiate a commission with the sellers, and if PV ends up not buying the house, he will try to list the place. Working with a serious buyer will make him look good to the sellers.

actually in my case, I'm the seller. A realtor approached me and said that his client wants my particular property. There would be no commission on my part. He then proceeded to fire me a low ball offer.....I'm just wondering what the realtor might charge the buyer for this service. Thanks

He may have a buyers agent contract with them. Most likely he would be charging them 3.22/1.15 approx.

LOL - in a realtors case, yes it is. Considering the skill set involved to be a scheister...errr realtor... I would say that the compensation structure is quite amusing. And the best thing is realtors crying when someone suggests they get paid too much. LOL
