Re: Vancouver prices still dropping

Four new 'For Sale' signs popped up around my block in the last week.  Homeowners thinking they can catch the top by waiting until the top has obviously passed and selling into the turn during the slowest months of the year will stubbornly refuse to lower their price. Expect inventory to increase an...

Re: Backward plan to make housing cheaper is about to backfi

probably hard to enforce and also costly bureaucracy required to manage it. it just create more work for political departments resulting in more cost to everyone. imagine all the lawsuits and battles from disgruntled property owners who have been wrongly accused. the intended consequences will resu...

Re: April Sales Remain @ Record Levels Across Metro Vancouve

Unbelievably, this year might look at lot like last year if listings remain at historic lows...and foreign buyers paying "whatever it takes" to secure their desired property. Price surge arounf Nov and Dec when listings are most scant Funny, we haven't heard from G-eyesore lately, nor his mocking o...

Re: Are Laneway Houses worth it?

While I appreciate the breakdown it's not aligning with the way these builds often go from my experience. Here's a neat article on the fun that ensues once you start getting a little bit custom. Neighbours can require alterations. Construction can be delayed, unexpected costs crop up. Finish qualit...

Re: Royal City

As someone who grew up in East Vancouver and live there... New West just has a stigma to it - non desirable similar to Surrey. Even in the past few years when people herd I live in east Van they always thought downtown east side, even though I live in Renfrew heights. It will take allot of time and...

Re: Royal City

The board does not seem too interested in New West, but I am: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/real-estate/vancouver/how-new-westminster-bc-is-trying-to-manage-its-rapid-rise/article29643114/ Have not pulled the trigger but have been sniffing around. Is NW the last remaining 'value' in the lower mainl...

Re: Are Laneway Houses worth it?

I'm not that big of a fan of laneways unless you are also building the primary house at the same time, and are looking to sell. The economy of scales of utilities hook-ups, labour, permits, and materials will be spread across a much larger project and the laneway will give potential buyers more futu...

Re: Thoughts From My 1st Visit to China (Fuzhou)

It's kinda funny, when the British came to HK it could be considered at the time and presently "Hong Kong Version 2.0" Now we have Vancouver in a similar revision with HK coming to "British" Columbia it's "Hong Kong Version 3.0" a different kind of Hong Kong can you blame them? the locals and nativ...

Re: Competition keeps home sellers in the Driver Seat

Prices have gone so far out of whack, what type of correction is required to bring them back to "normal"? 50%? 60%? More? According to Geyser's "long term historical average", you need a 25% correction first, then 50% correction fllows, then another 50% correction again, all three corrections toget...

Re: Vancouver RE has dropped >10% since 2013

You said it . It doesn't matter .

The important part is the Canadian dollar makes
It cheaper for people to come buy properties
Agree, cost of living be damned. As long as my property is more valuable than my neighbours, it's all good in the hood.

Re: Vancouver RE has dropped >10% since 2013

Vancouver will out perform the rest of Canada. I dont care what it does against any other locale Actually, I don't follow your logic: if ETB was extremely lucky, what corlation does that have to making his / her responses adequate? But I'll humour you and try to explain why I posted. I thought the ...
