Re: Edmonton to Vancouver

Waldo's contribution to the thread thus far:

- New West and Coquitlam are a "stone's throw" from Vancouver
- Only white people live in Vancouver Westside, West Vancouver and North Vancouver

Bravo.

Re: Edmonton to Vancouver

Why not a locale within a stone's throw of Vancouver, like NWest, Coquitlam, etc.
You must have one hell of an arm Waldo!

Re: Recognizing potential major expenses in a new home

Finally, don't forget to check the kitchen and bathrooms. Sinks, faucets, bathtubs, showers, and cabinetry have a life-span of about 10-15 years.
Is this the time frame for which they wear out or simply become out of style?
That's if you cook meth in the bathtub.

Tomorrow's innovators are born in today's classroom. Here is a picture of UBC engineering team working on the concept car that will compete in Texas next week. By the way, the only female member is sitting in car as driver. Her name is Nancy Peng. Hat off to the only non minority guy in the picture...

Re: Condo marketing company admits it duped media

I think anyone who has ever been associated with a news article realizes very little of what the main stream media reports is particularly accurate. This. ^ Anytime I've had direct knowledge of an event that later ended up on the MSM, they messed the story up so bad that I have to believe they scre...

Re: Realtor anecdotes and comments.........

I'm hoping for a discount, but not a collapse. A collapse would be bad for everyone. Was the huge run up good for EVERYONE? If not, how can you possibly argue that a collapse would be bad for everyone? My income does not depend one iota on the local economy, so I have a very hard time understanding...

Re: Is it me or is the Westside getting creamed?

Unlike the realtors here, I prefer to paint a picture of both sides of the story. 905 W20th. Asking $2.35M. Sold for $2.49M after 105 days. These guys might have got bailed out as they paid $1.35M for the land. After realtor fees and HST the profit would have been thin at their asking price. That s...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

new construction strata vs 1929 detached = apples to dinosaurs The point is it's a very different market and paper gains are disappearing very quickly. 2317 Napier St sold for 767k, assessed 833k. Thanks for the data, exactly what I expected. So now we have ETB posting sales @8% below assessment as...

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

Easy when I have actual peer reviewed stuff from the National Academies of Science. Science is not a popularity contest. It is about credibility based on actual work, breaking research and careful analysis. You said the blog was unknown. I'm just pointing out that that blog is unknown only if you'r...

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

Why bring up some article from an unknown blogger. Looks like this is the scientific equivalent of greaterfools. Thanks for the cherry picking! "The world's most viewed site on global warming and climate change" "134,089,468 views" Two-time winner best science blog: http://2012.bloggi.es/#science U...

2317 NAPIER ST MLS® V981979 33x122 lot 2038sqft house built 1929 Asking $729,900 SOLD for $767,000 on 9-Dec-2012 after 6 days on the market So in Feb '12 an east van basement suite sells for $600K and now this, I can only assume, is considered a bullish sale. Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

What? Do you mean that you don't believe climate change is happening? Where to begin? I don't really want to turn this thread into a huge debate on "climate change"... so I won't. What I'm suggesting is that no politician in their right mind is going to allocate scarce resources to fixing something...

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

I don't say. It's the scietists who do the thinking, research and concluding.
And grant proposal writing.
The point is that the governments will spend billions. And, it will not be enough in some areas.
Doubtful, on both accounts.
Is it your area?
Nice try.

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

The scientific debate about global warming is over. It is coming faster than anticipated. Great news!... for RE in Edmonton that is. Think of the havoc caused by the flooding from Hurricane Sandy. Think of the swollen Fraser River. Hold me, JT! “If you have a warmer atmosphere, you’re probably goin...
