paying GST on new condo

It drives me nuts to think about paying GST on a new condo that I want.  Any suggested strategies? Advice? Reflections?  Just do it and stop crying?
It would be my primary residence and it's 550K.

Re: Shady Realtors Anecdotes

In the Comox Valley, home seller's agents have 'held off'all other offers, thereby allowing their buyer to be the only offer presented.  They get full commission.  The home seller never sees the other offers (and doesn't know they exist) and could have received more money in a multiple offer situati...

Completion and Possession ish

I sell a rental house.  Tenant left early- house is vacant.  Completion is Thursday.  Friday is possession at 1:00. On Thursday, realtor confirms with notary that funds have arrived and deal has closed.  Buyer wants in a day early- the moving van is parked in front of the house. I don't want to be a...

Re: landlord question: SMOKING/tenant rights

He now says he doesn't smoke in the unit. The cloud of smoke and smell begs to differ. The burden of proof is with me.

landlord question: SMOKING/tenant rights

Hi, Does anyone know if a a tenancy agreement can be changed to non smoking, after a strata bylaw has moved to a non smoking building? Does the tenant have a right to smoke in his unit, if the original tenancy agreement did not stipulate that he couldn't? I can't reach the RTO today. One of my units...

offering on a house with no permits

Any advice on how to factor in a house's lack of permits when making an offer? I have a lead on an ocean front fixer upper. I can't afford to tear it down and start over, but no permits were ever pulled for upgrades in 1996 which included plumbing, deck and addition. I intend to add a basement suite ...

from septic to sewer- when to sell?

Hello,
I have a rental house on the island and it will be upgraded from septic to sewer in 2018, at a cost of 25,000 to each home owner (on taxes). My question is- hold or sell? Does anyone have any experience with the correlation of sewer and house values, factoring the cost to hook up?

grounds to evict?

I need some input. I am a landlord and my tenant is a lovely elderly lady. She now has Alzheimer's and her son does not want her to live with him. So he arranges for a care aid to come to the home daily. Still, we have complaints that she is knocking on her neighbours' apartments doors in confusion ...

Property Tax Deferral Feedback

So if I'm 55, no kids, living in my dream home....why not defer my property taxes and use the money to pay down the mortgage? Is anyone else doing this? Thoughts?
