What would you do if The Donald wins?

What would you do if The Donald wins?

What would you do if Donald Trump wins on Tuesday the 8th?

For sure, it would be a tragedy for decency and honesty. It would be so bad that it won't be funny.

Mexican Peso would nosedive. Canada would worry. China would be wary. Putin would rejoice. What would Donald do at home?

The Donald has promised huge tax cuts and building 350 war ships. Congress would rebuff him on the extreme policies. However, it would be a messy process. Expect a blow-back in 2020.

What about the Fed? Normally, the Fed keeps interest rates docile in uncertain times. Unfortunately, the scale of the Donald's promises would be extremely inflationary. Expect the Fed to quietly cancel QE and raise rates where possible. Quite likely that the market would pre-empt the Fed and run for the hills.

I'm down to just 15% of my portfolio in stocks. A Trump win would be easy for me. I'll dump my bank shares and buy gold. No way is gold going down!!!

What shape are you in? What would be the first thing you do on November 9th?

only goofy people buy things that are taxable if you actually buy a lot, such as metals and most stocks.  you don't pay tax on a house you live in yourself in Canada, and there is no limit on how much you can make.

Here's more facts, not hot air. The battle lines are drawn. Clinton can't solve the problems. Trump and his lones will be back in 2020 to muddle the waters.

Most smart people know that you should have other investments besides your principal residence.

Clever and appropriate people know that you don't need to gamble on other things and pay taxes when you don't need to by having your own home .

Most smart people know that you should have other investments besides your principal residence.

And most smart people know that some of those investments are tax-free if put into a TFSA.  At this point in time, if a couple has not bothered with their TFSA contributions, they can contribute $46,500 each and income earned on those contributions are tax free.

Intelligent citizens know that Canada's two registered instruments have limits on how much you can put in. There is no limit on how much you can put in early against an open mortgage nor is there any taxes payable when you sell your own place that you have lived in.

Squeaker. I feared that Clinton couldn't put Trump away. Clinton in the fight of her life.

California just closed. Clinton bogged down in the rust belt. Down to the wire.

Huge losses in Asia stocks and USA futures. Are you prepared?

"It is customary in American presidential elections that a candidate sets out a vision for their first term in the Oval office.
But ever keen to be “the greatest”, Mr Trump has slashed the timeline of his proposals from 100 days to one.
At an address delivered in historic Gettysburg last month,  Mr Trump laid out a “contract with the American people” that would begin with a “very busy first day”."

Donald's not a team player. He'll mess the GOP too, and create havoc in DC.

The best outcome is if the donkeys win the midterm in 2018. Then, boot him out in 2020.

Meanwhile, expect 4 years of disaster for exporters. Not a good environment for investments. Certainly not a good RE situation in Vancouver. So many regulations already in place.

Sorry, dudes.
