Vancouver target for Chinese Court Cases

Fri Sep 09, 2016 9:18 am

http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news ... ay-lawyers

The best part of this article was:

"Based on the case, Duhaime says she has obtained information from China alleging that “billions of dollars” of bank fraud proceeds are invested in B.C. real estate. She said she could not share the documents for reasons of client privilege."

But anyways, I could have sworn it was the lack of land, high livability ranking, etc that was driving up our prices.

Oh dear, I'm sure this is just the thin end of the wedge. Not to worry, I'm sure lots of other billionaires will rush in to buy all the foreclosures, after all ....  "everybody on the planet wants to live in the best place on earth" and besides "it's different this time" and "property prices only go up".

They should send these crooks back to face the consequences, but then again I'm sure they didn't get a fair trial in China

Until recently I might have agreed with you. When house price increases were small the cost of an audit outweighed the payback. That's all changed, today even the sale of a crappy old Vancouver special can net a gain of over a million dollars and in the better areas recent sales have netted the sellers multiple millions. It seems naive to assume that the CRA are unaware of the proliferation of secondary suites and the many, many millions available to them if they deny PR status to the non-qualifying parts of those house. Or maybe they'll play nice, look the other way and ignore the bounty which awaits their scrutiny. Maybe.

Some people think these undesirables are an asset to Canada.

I am hearing there are frozen assets all over the city because of these court cases.  These Chinese criminals want out so so bad but can't even sell the real estate until they lose it for nothing.

Oh well - we'll always have immigrant cleaning ladies and double double servers to buy RE here!!!!!   :D

let's see,

You guys Don't want rich people coming ...don't want poor people coming....Who's going to pay your welfare disability handouts and medical expense handouts?

You don't pay into the system, you drain it, you don't populate and when you do it's of the entitled complacent kind, I could go on. Maybe canada is getting driven into the ground by the status quo. Never thought about that before did you?

time and time again it is proven that newcomers are typically entrepreneurial and business types.

or of skilled trades or knowledge.

these are the types of people canada needs. to fill those jobs that people here are not qualified for.

and the poor ones to do the jobs that people here wont do. unskilled labour.

in the end, the lazy lose and smart and hard workers win. the speculators  and risk takers.

Just to clarify - who is "you guys"?
You make interesting assumptions... and almost all of them are wrong.

Are you arguing with yourself again for the sake of arguing?
